  • It is nearly impossible to put an exact time on the therapy process because each client is different. In general, you should learn some skills and feel relief in the first few months. However, for clients with significant trauma history it may take longer. Our 10-week programs will equip your teens with the skills and a start to practice!

  • In our mental health treatment, we aim to address the whole person: brain, body, mind, spirit, and lifestyle. We recognize mental health impacts, and is impacted by, all of these factors. When feeling depressed, the body feels tired and lethargic. Depression often leads to isolation and decreased appetite or overeating. This is also true of anxiety, trauma, and more. We aim to address all of the factors contributing in a holistic way, which is where our name “BrainBody” comes from!

  • Oh, you mean Emmy? She is our practice mascot - she represents the emotion “monster” that lies within all of us. Many of us learn to fear her (our inner emotions), so we try to suppress, reject and ignore her. We believe when people don’t learn to handle their own inner Emmy as children and teens, this can cause chronic anxiety, depression, and sadness in adulthood.

Emmy is pictured as a cartoon to represent childhood and she is a monster which symbolizes how many children learn to fear their emotions. How we learn to manage our emotions as young children often becomes the same techniques we will try to use as teens and adults. Emmy represents the young and “scary” emotions that we try to run from when we are teens and adults.

Emmy appears on our site displaying the 5 primary emotions: happy, sad, disgusted, afraid, and angry. Have you found them all?

Let us support your teen in learning to manage their emotions today.

What is your approach to mental health treatment?

At BrainBody Wellness, we take a holistic approach to therapy, focusing on the whole person—brain, body, mind, spirit, and lifestyle.

We recognize that mental health both impacts and is impacted by every part of life. For example:

  • Depression can lead to fatigue, isolation, and changes in appetite.

  • Anxiety and trauma can cause physical tension and sleep disruption.

Our therapists work to address these interconnected factors through personalized, evidence-based treatment that helps clients restore balance and wellbeing. This integrative approach is what inspired our name: BrainBody Wellness.

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Many clients begin noticing improvements and learning new coping skills within the first few months.

For clients with significant trauma histories or complex needs, therapy may take longer.
We also offer 10-week skills-based programs that equip teens with practical tools to manage emotions, build resilience, and start making lasting changes.
